I know how i would do it... I would buy a loooooong peice of aluminium tube and use a very shallow angle pipe bender to bend it around into a hoop using guides down each side to make sure it didnt end up scewed like a corkscrew. then i would measure out how many torches i wanted coming out if the thing and drill holes through the hoop and then bolt thin, machine grade, threaded steel rod to the hoop. then i would get a small amount of kevlar for each fire head and screw it onto each rod with a lock nut on each side of the kevlar with a washer to keep it in place.

Also, i might wrap tennis racquet tape around the hoop to increase grip if it was too slippery.

But that would cos t a lot of money and my time and i cant do hoop. :)

Hope i helped!

good question.
id say you will probly spend just as much in the long run than it would to buy one.

sooo, id probly buy one...

but if you DID make one, id love to see some pics of it!

i've made a few of em.... even a couple that screw apart.
we used...
- 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 black pvc hose. pvc
- pvc hose connectors
- flat backed carriage bolts (however many arms you want)
- bolts / washers
- kevlar wicking (homeofpoi.com)
0k. first make your hoop. easy enough. cut hose, use connector. drill holes evenly spaced towards the center. i recommend 6 holes too many and the hoop gets really heavy. also makes it hard to grab. put bolt thru hole. washer. bolt tight. another bolt , then washer .
i'm so bad at directions. grrr.
cathedral fold your wick.. i recommend like 10 inches per head. too much and they burn forever. use an awl to poke a hole thru. shove the bolt thru. washer . bolt. tighten so it squishs the wick. repeat. if you have any questions ask. sorry such bad directions. hope it helps.

I read the above comment about using aluminum tubing- PLEASE DONT! AS THIS COULD BURN YOU! metal conducts heat- especially aluminum.
I have made a fire hoop:
Material:
-3/4" thick walled irrigation tubing (local hardware store)
-plastic joint to connect cut ends.
- 6 metal hangers
- kevlar wicking (from homeofpoi.com)
Directions:
make hoop, use lighter of hair dryer to heat ends of tubing before sliding plastic joint in (dont use metal it makes the hoop to heavy on one side). cut hangars into L shaped pieces approx 10" long on each of the "L" (20" overall with a corner in middle), crimp 2.5" down of the "corner of L" wrap kevlar around to create wick- use a thick bolt to drill thru wick and secure with lock tight so you dont lose wick from hanger. drill 12 holes equidistant from each other in hoop. crimp 2" of end of "L" shape on hangers and slide into each of the holes- make sure the holes are very tight- you should wear gloves to assist and protect your hands. For extra resistance- once you have all hangers in holes, pull on the sides of the triangles that the wick holders have made to ensure an even tighter fit into the hoop!
This is hard to describe in words, I hope you can understand! Good luck fellow hooper!
